A teaching miracle in Trinitas

I also would like to share one of the greatest miracles I witnessed when I was serving full time mission. This experience strengthens my testimony that obeying with exactness is indeed the key to become a successful missionary and even in other fields and aspirations of life.

Teaching in Trinitas, Cagayan De Oro Mission

When I was on my second area in Trinitas a small village in Cagayan De Oro Mission, we met an investigator who was a strong Bible believer and a teacher in the religion where she belongs. During our discussion with her, she asked so many questions and we felt that she was the type of investigator who is sincere with her questions but cannot be easily convinced. We invited her to read the Book of Mormon and told her that we would like to come back to discuss more about her queries. We were very happy when she accepted it- especially when she promised to read The Book of Mormon.

Asking the Lord for help and guidance

On that early morning, the day of our schedule to visit her again, we prayed hard and asked Heavenly Father for help and guidance. We also studied and prepared for the possible questions she might ask. Same as what had happened during our previous visits. When we got inside their house, I felt that my companion was feeling nervous, the same feeling that I had as soon as we got in.

But a miracle happened.

Right after the opening prayer, without long discussion that usually happened, she shared with us how she felt reading the Book of Mormon and asked us what she needs to do in order to be baptized and become a member of the church. The most awaited and perfect question an investigator could ever ask to the missionaries. After a few discussions about her questions, we set a schedule for her baptismal date.

Trials after accepting a baptismal date

During her preparation for baptism she encountered lot of trials and hindrances. Her former religion criticized her. She got an accident, she fell from the roof of their house when she was cleaning, and she got sick. But because of her faith she recovered easily and got baptized on her baptismal schedule.

In 2 Nephi 32:9, it says

“But behold, I say unto you that we must pray always and not faint, that ye must not perform anything unto the Lord save in the first place ye shall pray unto the Father in the name of Christ that he will consecrate thy performance unto thee, that thy performance may be for the welfare of thy soul.”

My testimony of missionary work

As missionaries, we are commanded to pray fervently, prepare and study hard for the welfare of the souls of our investigators. To be united with our companion, to have one heart and one mind. We did our best to obey these things which lead us to become our best selves and be worthy of the inspirations we needed to succeed.

As it says in the Cagayan de Oro Mission Song……”We give our Best, GOD will do the Rest….With Honor till the End……..”

I know that these things are true and I share this with you in Jesus Christ name …Amen…
