When did you serve?

  • 2004-2006 (Anonymous)

What were some favorite foods?

  • Tacos al Pastor, Pastes, Chalupas, Mole, Salsa. (Anonymous)

What was a funny experience?

  • My companion and I getting chased by an angry donkey. (Anonymous)

What was a crazy experience?

  • Getting attacked several times, someone trying to stab me with a knife. (Anonymous)

What was a spiritual experience?

  • Giving a priesthood blessing to a woman I loved (not romantically)…my companion and I taught her. I felt like I could feel the love God had for her in that moment. I felt like I experienced this many times during my mission though. (Anonymous)

What are some interesting facts about the Puebla North Mission?

What was the weather like?

  • Google has that information. (Anonymous)

Any things you really like about the area/people?

  • I liked how friendly and fun the people were. (Anonymous)

Any packing/clothing advice?

  • Good shoes are more important than anything else. I walked hundreds and hundreds of miles on my mission. Even towards the end of my mission, my legs were sore and tired every morning. I didn’t complain about it or even mind. Part of me felt a certain amount of pride that in some small way I was sacrificing personal comfort to serve God. (Anonymous)

What blessings did you receive from serving a mission?

  • I learned Spanish, I learned how to learn better, I learned to feel more comfortable talking to strangers. (Anonymous)

What are some skills you gained?

  • I learned Spanish, I learned how to learn better, I learned to feel more comfortable talking to strangers. (Anonymous)

What do you wish you knew/did at the beginning of your mission?

  • I wish I understood more about the history of the church, not just the whitewashed version that is told in Sunday School. I wish that I didn’t hold myself to as high of a standard (keeping the rules is always good), but I felt like I needed to be prefect and it stressed me out… for example I felt like if I didn’t talk to everyone I would be denying them the chance to hear the most important thing they had ever heard. This personally wasn’t very healthy for me. I wish I understood the beauty of the sermon on the mount more deeply. I wish I understood better how complicated and beautiful all people are and their beliefs. I wish I was less ignorant. I wish that didn’t stress about numbers and that I only cared about people. I wished I had taken more time to serve people. Also don’t worry about being made a leader, if you aren’t asked to lead it doesn’t diminish your ability to lead and do great things. (Anonymous)

Any advice/testimony for pre-missionaries going to Puebla North?

  • Get as much experience becoming friends with people who are not of our faith. Don’t look at everyone as a project to be converted. Try to really understand them and value them. I think this will have a profound impact on your ability to be an effective missionary. (Anonymous)

What was a funny language mistake?

  • Most of the funny ones are not particularly appropriate. I will refrain from sharing…(Anonymous)
