When did you serve?

What areas did you serve in?

What were some favorite foods?

  • Steak and mushroom meat pie. Potato fritters and chips with salt and vinegar. Samoan noodles. Pavlovian. Ice cream. (Cindy)

What was a funny experience?

  • My companion and were riding our bikes to the next appointment and I hit the curb and flew over the handle bars and landed with my skirt over my head at the feet of a gentleman. (Cindy)

What was a crazy experience?

  • Being pushed off a porch physically when told to leave. (Cindy)

What was a spiritual experience?

  • Attending a baptism of an investigator and knowing the Lord was the instigator and leader of their conversion. (Cindy)

What are some interesting facts about the New Zealand Christchurch Mission?

  • New Zealand, the Islands of the long white cloud. Maori are the natives. Pakihas are the European white people. The seasons are opposite to the United States. The food is generally seafood and lamb. The dairy is rich and delicious. (Cindy)

What was the weather like?

  • Humid. The winter is a lot of rain and bone chilling like England. (Cindy)

Any things you really like about the area/people?

  • They are patient and spiritual. I like the scenery and the fact that there is a beach not too far off. (Cindy)

Any packing/clothing advice?

  • Pack for the season. December and January is summer and June and July is winter. (Cindy)

What blessings did you receive from serving a mission?

  • The blessing of learning to talk to people. My family was blessed. (Cindy)

What are some skills you gained?

  • Learned to speak better. Confidence. (Cindy)

What do you wish you knew/did at the beginning of your mission?

  • To be more patient with my companions and love them heaps. Learn to listen to the Spirit and his promptings. (Cindy)

Any advice/testimony for pre-missionaries going to New Zealand Christchurch?

  • Be patient with yourself and continually strive to listen to the Spirit. Obey prompting from the Spirit. (Cindy)

What was a funny language mistake?

  • Serviette = napkin. Bathroom = bathing room, bath tub and sink. May I use your loo or toilet. Instead of asking for the bathroom. (Cindy)
