October 2014 Reports

Prepare to Serve – Progress Report

October was a great month!

We’ve changed each sub-site of preparetoserve.com to the new WordPress theme, so now the website is much more mobile friendly, has better navigation and loads faster.  This month we also conducted lots of video interviews with RMs.  We now have about 320 video interviews published online.  We also held a booth in the Wilkinson Center and collected a few hundred email addresses of RMs willing to be interviewed.

As I was transferring to the new theme, it took me some time to get the Google Analytics tracking id on each of the pages, so there was some undercounting for this month’s traffic.

Also, the LDS Missionary Expo went well. It was especially wonderful to meet the people manning each of the 60 or so booths.  We also made a shareable video about 99 Crazy Foods Missionaries Have Eaten that has received over 12,000 views.  Also of note is that Facebook had an algorithm change that has greatly increased the amount of new likes our Facebook page receives.  Before the change we used to get maybe 30-50 new likes in a week.  Now, we seem to be getting between 100-200 new likes in a week.  I also gave several in-class presentations in Mission Prep classes and networked with several influential people in the LDS Missionary space.

Some things coming up in November

  • Updating the Mission Blog Index– adding about 1,000 blogs.
  • Interviewing RMs for countries we do not yet have represented, for example: Romania, Tonga, Samoa, etc.
  • 20-30 Video interviews conducted, edited and uploaded to YouTube.
  • Holding a networking event with LDS influencers.
