September 2014 Reports

Prepare to Serve – Progress Report

September was a wonderful month!

During September I started meeting with our two teams of BYU interns (10 interns total).  Together we set the goal to increase website traffic to 2,500 visits/day and 10,000 YouTube views/day by the end of the year.  Over the course of this semester we are aiming to upload another 120 or so interviews with RMs and reach the goal of 400 returned missionary interviews.

Outside of interviewing, editing and uploading a lot of mission-specific videos I transitioned the home domain preparetoserve.com to a faster and more mobile-friendly theme.  I also made a demo mission page for the Argentina Neuquen Mission.  I finished updating the mission group index. We gained more than 400 followers on YouTube, 500 on Pinterest and 150 on Facebook.  Our daily viewership on YouTube grew to approximately 7,000 views/day.

Some things coming up in October

  • The LDS Missionary Expo.
  • Having a booth at BYU for 7-8 days, to collect email addresses of RMs willing to be interviewed. Last semester this was a very effective method to find returned missionaries to interview.
  • 20-30 Video interviews conducted, edited and uploaded to YouTube.
  • Converting the website to the new theme.
  • Experimenting with Amazon and Mission T-Shirt Affiliate Sales.
